Worlds First VR Roller-coaster

Alton Towers New VR Ride Opens Soon

Galactica is Alton Towers first fully dedicated to VR (virtual reality) ride and will officially open to the public on March 24th.

You, as a rider will have to put on a Samsung Gear VR headset that is tethered to the ride for safety. The virtual reality you face is set in space. The twists and turns of the roller-coaster exactly match what you see in the headset. This makes for a very immersive ride.

Check out the video below for a 'first look' glimpse of Galactica

Petition to stop Adam Lambert performing in Singapore

Petition reaches 20,000 signatures

A group of people calling themselves 'Concerned citizens and parents' have launched a petition to stop Adam Lambert performing a new years countdown gig in Singapore. The reasons behind the petition are for his stance on LGBT rights and his rather sexual performances.

Lambert is scheduled to headline the 2016 countdown concert in Singapore which is broadcast on television live. The concerned citizens have said "The singer is hardly the kind of performer to send off our historic Jubilee year".

LGBT rights are a divisive issue in Singapore, as technically sex between men continues to
be a criminal act.

Last year an issue of the Archie comic book series was banned in the country as it depicted same-sex marriage.

Another petition however, in 'support' of Lambert was also setup on the same site. The statement made with this petition was as follows; “We, the moral majority of Singapore utterly denounce and condemn the obvious sexual orientation discrimination demonstrated by the other petition.”

Lambert shared a link to this petition on his Facebook page, alongside a statement which said, “I am a uniter, not a divider, and I believe in celebrating the human heart and spirit… the tour is based primarily on new material, and it promises to be a thoughtful and sophisticated insight into the pursuit of happiness and self-worth.”

Say Goodbye to The Inbetweeners

Writer 'Kills' Inbetweeners with second film

Writer and director Damon Beesley is keeping very quiet on the plot of the upcoming film, The Inbetweeners 2 (released August 6th) but has said that this film effectively 'kills' off the four foul mouthed lads. This movie is then end of The Inbetweeners as we know it.

It took the lads 3 years of constant messages and requests from fans, to actually come to the agreement of making a second film. The lads went for a script reading and, Simon Bird, geeky Will in the film, recalled: "We all met up to read the script that Iain and Damon wrote together and we definitely went into that meeting saying 'by the way this is not going to happen' and came out of it basically almost straight away agreeing to do it."

Below you can watch the lads in an interview for Sky's Entertainment Weekly.

Take That - Busted!

Take That fined for 'Massive Tax Avoidance Scheme'

Take That's Garry Barlow, Mark Owen, Howard Donald, and manager Jonathan Wild poured £66million into two partnerships that were styled as music styled investment schemes. However they were 'fake' tax shelters, that enabled the super rich musicians to avoid paying tax on up to £63million from world tours and CD sales.

The members of Take That are likely to be ordered to replay £20million to HM Revenue & Customs.
Tax judge Colin Bishopp rejected arguments that more than 50 partnerships, set up by a company called Icebreaker Management, had been set up for commercial purposes. He said: “Icebreaker is, and was known and understood by all concerned to be, a tax avoidance scheme.“The aim was to secure tax relief for members, and to inflate the scale of the relief by unnecessary borrowing.”Icebreaker partnerships did not make any profit despite investing in artists from unknowns to world famous stars like Sinead O’Connor, the judge found.

Snap-Hack

Snap Chat Caught Out!

Yes, it appears Snapchat has been caught not securing users details properly and lying about conversations and images being totally deleted after use.

The mobile messaging app, had misled users and had been collecting data. The Federal Trade Commission says messages remained accessible to users and outside parties. The FTC also said Snapchat was collecting users details and contacts, despite saying it wasn't doing so. It failed to secure users data, enabling hackers to gain access to millions of phone numbers in a recent breach. The FTC require Snapchat to make changes, although states they will not be issuing a fine.

12 sided One Pound Coin

The Royal Mint issues new One Pound Coin for 2017

Thanks to the ease of being able to forge the current pound coin, and there being around 45 million forgeries in circulation, The Royal Mint has decided to introduce a new 12 sided pound coin, based on the iconic Threepenny Bit.

Described as 'a leap into the future' the new coin uses the latest in anti forgery technology. However, there is doubt for many businesses who operate machines such as; drinks machines, parking meters, shopping trollies and so on. Every mechanism in these will have to be changed at a cost of thousands to operators. The old 'round' pound coin is 30 years old and very vulnerable to counterfeiting.

Therefore, The Royal Mint has said it now time to retire the old coin and replace it with something that can take the UK's economy into the future. It will have a similar structure to that of the current £2 coin. Using two metals and a new bank-note strength security feature pioneered at Royal Mints headquarters in Llantrisant Wales. It is being heralded as the most secure coin in the world...

What do you think? Comment below and let us know what you think of the new design.

Facebook Layout Changes Once Again

Updated timeline rolls out 'this week'

New Facebook layout

So this is what the new and supposedly improved Facebook will look like. The update mandatory to all users, rolls out this week. Some already have it, while others will be waiting a while longer.

The timeline features a more streamlined look, with pictures taking on a more focused design. A bit like the mobile version. You'll notice the 'home' button and your name have been moved from the left to the right side of the page, and an a feature for quick access to your privacy settings, has now been added. You will also notice the icons for particular actions has also changed. With updated icons for, 'comments, likes and poking'.

Another added feature is the ability to see what timeline you are currently viewing. I.e Most Recent Stories or Top Stories.

That's not all! Facebook pages will also have a major face lift. All your posts will  now streamline down the right hand side of the page, leaving the left side to be filled with information about you or your business. Your opening times, contact details and more. Also on the left will be the option to invite more people to your page

A feature showing your likes 'this week' and other stats will show on the top right. Facebook has also added new navigational buttons to the top of the page. Showing Page, Activity, Insights and Settings. They are also launching a new feature called 'Pages to watch'.

This is in the insights tab and lets users track similar pages to their own.
Tracking performance and stats and the pasts weeks most engaging posts.

So there you have it, an almost complete redesign. Did you know it was a year today that Facebook introduced us to the current timeline? Do you have it yet? What do you think of the change?

One thing is for curtain, even if you don't yet have the new layout, it is coming!
