More High Street Casualties

HMV & Blockbuster bow out

Blockbuster and HMV have become the latest casualties of the high street, with both having to call in the administrators. However Blockbuster are continuing to trade while they try to find a buyer.

HMV MD has said however he is in this for the long run and with the closure of a few stores the chain could in fact stay afloat.

Who will be next in the line of recent closures on our High Streets? As we have said goodbye so far to Comet, Clintons, JJB Sports, Jessops and now HMV. Is this really it for the high street? As on-line sales grow and technology advances, traders will need to get with the times or lose out.

In a positive piece of news, The Dixons group, who run Curry's & PC World reported growth in profit over the 2012 Christmas period, despite Comets fire sale.
