GREAT BRITAIN

Comic Relief Totally Blows Expectations!

The Great British public have done it again! Running thousands of events up and down the country to raise money for Comic Relief 2013. An this year has been no exception to the sheer hard work and huge effort people go to, in raising the money much needed to help charities both here in the UK and over seas in Africa.

The total so far this year is £74.3m!!! That is a record set on the actual night of the show that has been going for 23 years. The British Government has pledged £10m to go towards health and education in Africa.

Celebrities and the general public have done a fantastic job this year by setting a new record and should feel proud that they will help people here in the UK and in Africa.

Well done!!

Yet Another NEW Facebook Layout!

Dont fix what isn't broke?

So Facebook is at it again. Bringing us yet another new layout! When will they ever just let it be? This new layout incorporates a completely separate section for pictures and increases advertising. Wait a moment, do we really need more advertising on Facebook? Apart from the obvious advantages to businesses, do we really want to see more flashing images and annoying pop ups on the side bar?

Take a look below for images of what the new Facebook layout will be. It will be coming to you very soon.

Smart-Phone but gimmicky?

Samsung Galaxy S4

Samsung unveiled it's Successor to the Galaxy S3 with the new and much thinner Galaxy S4 at a very fancy Broadway launch at the Radio City Music Hall in New York. With a whole host of new features including instant pause and play of films by simply looking at or away from the device, a group share function without being connected to the internet and many other cool features.

The new Samsung Galaxy S4

However some critics are asking is the phone 'gimmicky?'

One reporter was filmed saying "I like the handset and the new features, but so far nothing has the Wow factor for me."

Another reportedly said "The phone is a very nice piece of kit and will give the like of Apple a run for it's money, however are the newly in built features something we will use everyday? or will they be a one time trick that we tire of easily?"

Either way the new phone has a ton of features that will be hard to keep up with. New enhanced security as well as a free storage cloud based service with a large amount of space and free. The phone weighs much less and looks very smart. Some say it will sell millions.

As a user of the Samsung Galaxy S3 i have to say, I would quite like to get my hands on one.

What do you think? Will Samsung be the leader in the Smartphone Industry? Or will Apple come back with something better?

Is the world safe?

Global Meltdown?

In the news most recently we have learnt that the US plans to drop the final phase of the European Defence programme in order to increase their own military defences against North Korea. They want to increase the number of interceptors that can shoot down missiles in flight from their current number to 30 by 2017.

With North Korea Pre-empting a Nuclear Strike... Are we safe?

Could European defences live up to an attack of this scale without the US?

Split-Screen LAG?

More and more split-screeners

It has come to my attention (Only on PS3) that there are more and more split screeners filling the lobbies of our multiplayer games. Take Modern Warfare 3 and Call of Duty:Black Ops 2 as examples. More game modes are now filling with single player split screens. This in my view gives them an advantage. It gives them what we call 'Lag Compensation'. This means they cause us to Lag, and they reap the benefits. Can these people not afford more than one console? Should there be an update to compensate us full screen players? Have you had similar experiences?

Console Wars...

Will a console ever beat the PC?

Sony have revealed (or not) the upcoming Playstation® 4. At a show in New York, Sony showed it's potential raw power. They gave us a look at the new and 'improved' Dual Shock® 4 Controller, with a Vita™ styled touch pad. An they also gave us a glimpse into the newly styled workings of the Playstation® Network. With such features as being able to watch your friends play a game you don't yet have, as well as letting your friends remotely control your game, say for example, you should get stuck. Another nice feature is the ability to share a video as you play. Simply hit the share button on the controller and pick a section to instantly upload to your social network.

Microsoft are yet to show their hand in the war of the console, and with Sony going a whole month ahead of them, it was said to be a strike to get 'ahead' of the competition.

All that said, is the console really going to win? With the PC now more powerful than ever, and upgrades available widely, can the giant corporations keep up? The mighty PC can be upgraded within months of a new console hitting the shelf, and the capability graphically is astounding. I would say Cloud gaming is the way forward and this maybe the very last physical console we will see from these companies. What do you think?
